Eye Health and Diseases Unit

Ophthalmology, which is known as Eye Health and Diseases, is a branch of medicine that deals with diseases and surgery of the visual pathways. Ophthalmologist is the title given only to specialists who have received their medical qualifications and they are classified as surgeons because they can perform eye operations.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Of all the sense organs, the eye is the most sensitive and complex organ in terms of health. Even if you have no complaints, you should take your children for examination at the age of 1, 3 and before they start school to protect them from amblyopia. Young people and individuals under the age of 40 are recommended to have eye examinations once a year. Eye examinations should be performed every 6 months for individuals over the age of 40, those who have had vision problems before or have a family history of vision problems.
